The Lookah Mini Dragon Egg is a pocket-size electric dab rig with a 500mAh battery, three fixed heat settings (518°F, 572°F, and 626°F), a replaceable 910 quartz dish coil, and a small water bubbler on the bottom. It costs $60.99 here, against Lookah's own list price of $79.99, and it's the right buy if you want water-filtered dabs away from home and can live with about 40 puffs per charge. If you mostly dab on the couch, the full-size Dragon Egg is $8.75 more and carries nearly double the battery.

Quick answer: The Lookah Mini Dragon Egg is a $60.99 portable e-rig with a 500mAh battery, a 910 quartz dish coil, and three heat settings: 518°F (green), 572°F (blue), and 626°F (white). Expect roughly 40 puffs per charge. Buy it for travel and short sessions. For home use, the 950mAh Dragon Egg at $69.74 lasts longer.

Every spec below comes from Lookah's published sheet for the device and from our own product listings, checked the day this went up. I'm not going to pretend to a lab test. What I can do is tell you what the numbers mean, which setting to start on, and where this thing's limits are, because it has a few.

How to use the Mini Dragon Egg

The whole device runs off one button. Here's the full sequence, start to finish.

  1. Fill the bubbler. Unscrew the bottom half, fill it about one-third with water, and screw it back on. More than a third and you'll pull water into the airpath.
  2. Power on. Five quick presses.
  3. Pick a heat setting. Two quick presses cycles green, blue, white.
  4. Load. Flip the magnetic cap open, set a rice-grain dab on the quartz dish, close the cap.
  5. Preheat. Three quick presses starts a 15-second preheat. When it finishes, the device vibrates twice.
  6. Inhale. After those two buzzes the Egg is in automatic mode and holds heat for 25 seconds, no button needed. It buzzes once at the end and shuts the coil off. If you'd rather drive it yourself, skip the preheat and hold the button while you draw.
  7. Power off. Five quick presses.

That's it. No app, no pairing, no firmware. For a travel rig I count that as a feature.

One habit worth building from day one: keep the dab small. A rice grain really is the right size for a dish this small, and our dab dosing guide explains why smaller loads waste less. Overload the dish and the extra floods the coil base, which is how coils die early.

The three heat settings, and which one to start on

The Mini doesn't give you a dial. You get three presets, and each one is a wattage with a temperature target attached.

LED Target Power Use it for
Green 518°F 9W Rosin, live resin, anything you bought for flavor
Blue 572°F 11W Everyday setting for badder, sugar, and crumble
White 626°F 13W Diamonds, stubborn shatter, finishing a puddle

Start on green. Always. You can step up mid-session, but you can't un-scorch terpenes.

Here's the tradeoff nobody selling this device mentions: 518°F is the lowest setting, and that's not especially low. Plenty of people running a torch and quartz take rosin somewhere in the 480°F to 520°F range, so the Mini's floor sits at the top of that window. If you live for cold-start-style flavor, this isn't going to match a banger you've dialed in by hand. It'll get close on green with a small load, and it'll do it in a parking lot, which a torch won't.

Also keep in mind that a coil's target and a banger's surface temperature aren't measured the same way, so don't treat 518°F on the Egg as identical to 518°F on a temp gun. For how the bigger e-rigs map their presets to each concentrate type, see our e-rig temperature settings guide.

The 910 coil: what changed and what it costs you

The Mini runs Lookah's 910 quartz dish coil, not the 710 coil that most of the brand's older gear uses. Two things matter about that.

First, the threading is different. The 910 thread runs 2mm longer than the 710 quartz dish coil, so the two don't swap. If you already own a Unicorn Mini or a Seahorse X and have a drawer of 710 coils, none of them fit the Mini Dragon Egg. That's annoying, and it's the single biggest thing to know before you buy.

Second, coils are a running cost. Two come in the box. After that, a five-pack of 910 quartz dish coils is $39.99, which works out to $8 a coil. How long one lasts depends almost entirely on whether you swab it. Wipe the dish with a cotton swab while it's still warm after every session and a coil can go weeks to a couple of months. Let reclaim bake on and you'll be buying coils monthly.

So budget for it. The device is $60.99, and a realistic first year is the device plus one five-pack: about $101.

Battery life: what 500mAh actually gets you

Lookah rates the Mini at about 40 puffs per charge. A puff isn't a session. If a session is three or four pulls, that's roughly 10 to 13 sessions, and fewer if you run white, since 13W pulls about 44% more power than 9W.

Charging is 5V at 500mA over USB-C. On paper that's about an hour from empty for a 500mAh cell, a little longer in practice because charging tapers near full. A small power bank will refill it many times over.

Is 500mAh enough? For one person over a day out, yes. For a group passing it around, no. The battery is the price you pay for the size, and it's the main reason to look at the bigger models below.

Mini Dragon Egg vs Dragon Egg vs Unicorn Mini

Lookah sells several small e-rigs, and three of them sit within $9 of each other in our Lookah collection. Specs are from each product listing.

Pick the Mini Dragon Egg if portability is the point. It.s roughly half the size of the original Dragon Egg, the acrylic bubbler won't shatter in a bag, and the 25-second automatic mode means you aren't holding a button while you inhale.

Pick the Dragon Egg if it'll mostly live on a table. For $8.75 more you get a 950mAh battery, a faster 9-second preheat, and a digital display that shows battery level and voltage instead of making you read LED colors. It also uses 710 coils, which matters if you own other Lookah devices.

Pick the Unicorn Mini if you want a glass bubbler. Glass tastes cleaner than acrylic and you can soak it in isopropyl alcohol. The listing puts it at up to 100 heat cycles per charge, and there's a dab tool stored in the base.

My own ranking: the full-size Dragon Egg is the better value for most people, and the Mini is the better travel rig. Buy for where you'll actually use it.

And if none of these is enough rig, our best electric dab rigs guide covers the step up to Puffco-class devices, and the full e-rigs collection shows what's in stock.

Cleaning the Mini Dragon Egg without wrecking it

This is where people damage the device, so read this part even if you skip the rest.

The bubbler is acrylic. Never soak it in isopropyl alcohol. Lookah says so directly: alcohol can damage perspex. It clouds, and it can crack. Wash the bubbler and its percolator with warm water, dish soap, and a small bottle brush. That's the opposite of what you'd do with a glass rig, so if alcohol is your reflex, stop at the bubbler.

The coil and the glass mouthpiece are different. Those can take alcohol.

  • After every session: swab the quartz dish with a cotton swab while it's still slightly warm. A swab dipped in isopropyl works for anything stuck.
  • Every week or two: pull the coil and the mouthpiece, soak both in isopropyl for 30 minutes or more, rinse, and let them dry completely before reassembly.
  • Every day you use it: dump the water. Stale bubbler water is the fastest way to make a clean coil taste bad.

Our e-rig water and coil care guide goes deeper on coil life, and swabs and brushes are in cleaning supplies.

Troubleshooting the usual problems

It won't turn on. Five presses, quickly. If that does nothing, charge it. The device has low-battery protection and will refuse to fire on a nearly dead cell.

Thin vapor on the first pull. You skipped the preheat. Three presses, wait for the two buzzes, then inhale. A cold quartz dish wastes the first few seconds of any load.

Water in your mouth. The bubbler is overfilled. One-third is the line. Pour some out.

Flavor dropped off. The dish has baked-on residue, or the water is old. Swab, soak the coil, change the water. If a clean coil still tastes flat or heats unevenly, it's done. Swap it.

It shut off mid-hit. That's the 25-second timeout doing its job, not a fault. The Mini also has overcharge, short-circuit, open-circuit, and high-temperature protection. If it cuts out immediately every time, reseat the coil: an open circuit usually means the coil isn't threaded all the way down.

Traveling with it

The Mini is built for this. Plastic shell, acrylic bubbler, magnetic cap that keeps the dish covered. Before it goes in a bag: empty the water, swab the dish, and close the cap. Don't store it upside down with a load on the coil.

Flying is a separate question with real legal edges, and a clean device matters there. Our guide to flying with a dab pen covers the TSA and battery rules. More compact gear lives in the travel-friendly collection.

Who should buy the Mini Dragon Egg, and who shouldn't

Buy it if:

  • You want water filtration somewhere a torch isn't welcome: apartments, patios, campsites, a friend's place.
  • You're a pen user who's tired of dry, hot hits. A bubbler changes that more than any coil upgrade.
  • You dab alone or with one other person, in short sessions.

Skip it if:

  • You want true low-temp flavor below 518°F. A glass dab rig with a quartz banger still wins there, and every rig order here ships with a free 14mm quartz banger.
  • You session with a group. 500mAh won't keep up. Get the 950mAh Dragon Egg.
  • You already own 710 coils and don't want a second coil type in the drawer.

It's a good little rig. But it's a second rig for most people, not an only rig, and it's better to know that going in.

Lookah Mini Dragon Egg FAQ

How do you turn on the Lookah Mini Dragon Egg?

Press the power button five times quickly. Five quick presses also turns it off. Two presses changes the heat setting, and three starts the 15-second preheat.

What do the light colors mean?

Green is 518°F (9W), blue is 572°F (11W), and white is 626°F (13W). Two quick presses cycles between them.

What coil does the Mini Dragon Egg use?

The Lookah 910 quartz dish coil. Two are included. 710 coils from other Lookah devices don't fit, because the 910 thread is 2mm longer.

How long does the battery last?

Lookah rates the 500mAh battery at about 40 puffs per charge. That's roughly 10 to 13 short sessions, fewer on the white setting.

Can you use the Mini Dragon Egg without water?

It'll fire dry, but the vapor is hotter and harsher, and water filtration is the reason to buy this over a wax pen. Fill the bubbler one-third.

Can you clean the bubbler with isopropyl alcohol?

No. The bubbler is acrylic, and Lookah warns that alcohol can damage it. Use warm water and dish soap. The coil and glass mouthpiece can be soaked in isopropyl.

Is the Mini Dragon Egg good for beginners?

Yes. One button, three presets, and an automatic 25-second mode. Start on green with a rice-grain dab and work up only if you want more vapor.
