Downstems

The downstem is the tube that delivers smoke from the bowl into the water chamber of your bong. It is one of the first parts to break and one of the most important components for filtration quality. A good downstem with proper slit diffusion breaks smoke into smaller bubbles, which increases water contact and produces smoother hits.

Replacement Downstems for Bongs

We carry glass downstems in standard lengths and joint sizes (14mm and 18mm). Slit-diffused downstems are the most popular style: small cuts at the bottom break smoke into multiple streams for better filtration. Standard open-end downstems are simpler and easier to clean but offer less diffusion.

To find the right downstem for your bong, measure the joint opening of your bong and the length from the joint to about half an inch above the base. Match both the joint size and length to ensure a proper fit. Our downstem fitting guide walks through the measurement process step by step.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size downstem do I need?

Downstem size has two measurements: the joint diameter (14mm or 18mm) and the length (measured from the bottom of the ground glass joint to the tip). Common lengths are 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, and 5 inches. Measure your bong before ordering.
