You know the pipes in the case that make you stop and pick them up? Usually it's the ones with real linework.

That's what this spoon does. Bands of colored glass run the full length of the pipe, from the mouthpiece up the stem and over the head, then curl down into the bowl. The base glass is clear, so the stripes look like they're floating.

We added it to our lineup because it looks like a fancier piece but keeps the sturdy shape of an everyday spoon.

Why the Linework Is the Whole Point

Stripes that follow the shape. The bands run lengthwise and curve with the head, so the pattern shifts as you turn the pipe. Mixed line styles. Thick color bands sit next to thin white and pale blue lines, and on the Orange & Green colorway a twisted cane band (two colors spun together like rope) adds a checkered look. Clear glass base. The clear body keeps the colors bright and shows you when the inside needs a clean. Clear marble on the head. A small glass marble on the side of the bowl gives you a grip point (and keeps the pipe from rolling). Full 5 inch length. Room for your whole hand, plus a little more smoke travel than a 4 inch pocket spoon.

Colors and Options

Orange & Green mixes orange bands with a green, blue and yellow twisted cane band plus thin white and teal lines. It's the busiest of the three (our pick for max color).

Yellow is sunny yellow bands with white and pale aqua lines between them.

Red & Blue alternates bold red and deep blue bands with thin white lines, like a vintage soda can stripe.

Each pipe is hand-worked, so band width and the way the lines meet at the bowl vary a little piece to piece.

The 5" Multicolor Linework Hand Pipe is a 5 inch spoon pipe made of clear borosilicate glass with color stripes running its full length. It has a built-in bowl, a side carb and a clear marble on the head. It comes in Orange & Green, Yellow or Red & Blue and is made for dry herb.

How to Use It

Drop medium-ground flower into the bowl without packing it tight. Cover the carb, light the edge, and pull slowly. Release the carb at the end of the hit to clear the stem.

Because the glass is clear, you can watch the smoke fill the stem and ease off before a hit gets harsh.

Pro Tip: Keep the bowl a little under full. A loose, shallow pack burns evenly across the top and leaves less half-burnt flower stuck in the bottom of the bowl.

Who It's For

Linework lovers: If you'd rather have crisp stripes than frit, start here.

Second-pipe shoppers: You already own a basic spoon and want something that looks better on the coffee table.

Clean freaks: The clear body shows buildup right away, so you'll always know when it's time for a soak.

Worth Noting: The clear body shows resin faster than a solid-color pipe. If you smoke daily, plan on a quick clean every week to keep the stripes looking sharp.

Care and Cleaning

We dump the ash after every session. For a deep clean, shake the cooled pipe in a zip bag with 91% isopropyl alcohol and coarse salt, let it soak until the resin loosens, then rinse with warm water.

Stubborn spots inside the head usually come out with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol (our go-to trick).

Warning: Always let the pipe cool before you clean it. Hot glass that hits cold water or cold alcohol can crack, and the dishwasher is never a good idea for glass pipes.

Common Questions

Why is this pipe listed as clear glass?
The base glass is clear borosilicate, and the color comes from stripes laid into it. That's why you can see through the gaps between the bands. The clear base keeps the colors bright and makes it easy to spot resin, so you'll know exactly when the pipe needs cleaning.
What is the checkered stripe on Orange & Green?
That band is twisted cane, which is two or more glass colors spun together like rope. On Orange & Green it mixes green, blue and yellow, so it looks checkered next to the solid orange bands. Yellow and Red & Blue use solid bands with thin white lines instead.
Do the stripes go all the way into the bowl?
Yes, the stripes run the full length of the pipe and curl over the head into the bowl. Look down at the rim and you'll see the bands meet in the center. Exactly how they meet varies a little, because every piece is worked by hand.
What does the marble on the side do?
The clear marble on the side of the head is a small knob of solid glass. It gives your fingers a landmark when you pick the pipe up, and it helps stop the pipe from rolling when you set it down. It's fused on, so it won't come loose.
Is 5 inches big enough for sharing?
A 5 inch spoon holds enough for a small group to pass a bowl around. The bowl is a standard spoon size, so two or three people can each get a couple of hits. For bigger groups, our bubblers and steamrollers move more smoke per pull.
Will cleaning damage the linework?
No, the linework is fused glass and won't wash off. Isopropyl alcohol and coarse salt are safe on every colorway. Just let the pipe cool before cleaning, and avoid scraping the inside with metal tools, which can scratch the glass over time.
Which colorway hides resin best?
Red & Blue hides resin best because its darker bands cover more of the clear glass. Orange & Green comes next. Yellow is the lightest and shows buildup soonest, so it looks best with a weekly clean. All three show some resin, since the base glass is clear.
