Two pieces of glassblower vocabulary explain this bowl, and we use both at the counter every week. A Maria is the flat collar of glass that wraps around the neck, named after a shape blowers have been pulling for generations. A spiral is exactly what it sounds like: a colored line wound around the body while the glass is turning. Together they give you a bowl you can grip and a bowl you can pick out of a drawer.
A 2.5" glass slide with a 14mm female joint, sold in five colors. The Maria collar sits between your fingers and the hot rim.
The extra half inch over a standard slide is doing real work here, which is why we stock it. At 2.5" your fingers end up further from the bowl head, and with the Maria collar in between there is a physical stop keeping your grip where it should be. If you have ever burned a knuckle pulling a short bowl mid-session, that is the problem this shape solves.
We ordered it in five colors because slides go missing. Red, Orange, Blue, Green and Black, one per person, and the argument about whose bowl is whose ends there. Every color shares the same 14mm female fitment, so mixing them across a household of pipes is not an issue.
The Maria is a heat stop. That raised collar is the difference between holding a bowl and holding a hot tube.
Spirals are structural as well as pretty. The wound line adds a little thickness and a lot of visual grip.
Five colors, one fitment. Choose on looks alone. Nothing about the fit changes between them.
2.5" gives reach without wobble. Long enough to grab easily, still short enough to sit steady in the joint.
Ten of each on hand. We spread our stock evenly, so the color you want is usually the color you get.

Each of these is a 2.5" glass flower bowl with a 14mm female joint, wrapped in a colored spiral and finished with a Maria ring. Choose from Red, Orange, Blue, Green or Black. Shipping weight is 4.8 ounces and there are fifty units across the five colors.
Hold it by the Maria, not by the head, and it will never catch you out. Seat it with a quarter turn, pack, and lift straight out when you clear. The collar gives you a consistent place to grab in the dark, which matters more than it sounds like it should.
If you run screens, we would drop one in before you pack. This bowl does not come with one, and an open hole will pull ash through into the water.
Pro Tip: Buy two colors instead of two of the same. One stays in the pipe, one stays clean, and you never lose track of which is which halfway through the week.
Households with more than one smoker. Color coding solves an argument nobody enjoys having.
Anyone with burned fingertips. The Maria exists for you.
People replacing a plain slide. Same fitment, better handling, small step up.
Gift buyers. A colored bowl reads as a present in a way a clear tube does not.
It is the flat glass collar that wraps around the neck of the bowl. Blowers have used the shape for generations, and it does two jobs here. It stops your fingers sliding up toward the hot head, and it gives the 2.5" body a defined place to grip when you pull the slide.
Red, Orange, Blue, Green and Black. All five share the same 14mm female joint and the same 2.5" length, so the choice is purely appearance. We hold ten of each, which is why the color menu on this listing tends to stay complete rather than dropping to one option.
No, this bowl ships on its own with no screen fitted. If your flower is ground fine you will want one, because an open hole lets ash pull straight through into your water. We sell screens separately and they cost very little compared to cleaning a chamber more often.
The bowl measures 2.5" overall, which is slightly longer than a basic slide. On a small pipe that extra reach is usually welcome, though on a very short neck it can look oversized. Fitment is unaffected either way, since the joint is a standard 14mm female.
No, the spiral is colored glass fused into the body while the piece is hot. There is no coating, paint or sticker involved, so scrubbing and alcohol will not touch it. The bowl may darken inside with use, but the outside pattern will look the same in a year.
Only for flower, not for concentrates. A rig with a 14mm female fitting will accept it physically, but a flower bowl is not built for torch heat. If you want to smoke flower out of a rig occasionally, this works. For concentrates you need a proper banger or nail.
Keep both surfaces clean and never force it in. Residue at the joint is what welds a bowl in place. A light twist while seating is enough, and if it ever sticks, a few minutes of warm water around the outside of the joint usually frees it without any prying.
Give it a soak in isopropyl once the airway darkens, then rinse under warm water and run a pipe cleaner through the hole. Standing it upright to dry stops water pooling in the head. Doing this weekly is easier than doing it once a season.
Warning: Do not pry a stuck bowl out with anything hard, and do not twist it while the head is still hot. Both are reliable ways to snap the neck right at the Maria, which is the narrowest point on the piece.
