How Bubblers Work

The concept is straightforward. Smoke passes through a small water chamber before reaching your lips, which cools it down and filters out some of the harsher particulates. You do not get the same level of filtration as a full bong with percolators, but the difference between a dry pipe hit and a bubbler hit is immediately noticeable. Less throat irritation, smoother pulls, better flavor.

Cleaning and Maintenance

The one downside of bubblers compared to bongs is cleaning. Since most are single-piece construction, you cannot take them apart to scrub each section. The best approach is soaking in isopropyl alcohol with coarse salt, shaking gently, and rinsing thoroughly. Do this regularly and your bubbler will stay clear and taste great.
