The 2-inch Notched Zinc Grinder is a 5-piece metal grinder built for daily herb prep. Zinc construction keeps the price down without sacrificing durability, while grip notches on top and bottom make it easy to twist — even when your hands are less than steady. Includes a kief catcher and scoop so you can collect the good stuff that falls through.
Daily smokers who want a functional metal grinder without dropping serious cash. If you're grinding flower a few times a week and want something more durable than plastic, this hits the mark. The kief catcher is a nice bonus for people who like to save up trichomes for special occasions or just want cleaner flower in the main chamber.
Load dry flower into the grinding chamber (don't overfill — half full works best). Twist the top section a few times using the notched grip rings until the flower breaks down to your preferred consistency. Ground material falls through holes into the storage chamber below. Over time, fine kief drops through a screen into the bottom catcher.
Use the included scoop to collect kief when you've built up a visible layer. The 5-piece design means you're working with: top lid, grinding teeth, flower storage chamber, kief screen, and kief catcher. Each section threads together, so you can take it apart for cleaning.
Sticky or resinous flower grinds easier when it's not too fresh — if your bud is damp, let it dry slightly before grinding. For maintenance, brush out residue between uses. When threads get gritty, a quick wipe with isopropyl alcohol keeps everything turning smoothly.

Let it cool if recently used, then brush out loose material. For deeper cleans, disassemble and soak metal parts in isopropyl alcohol, rinse thoroughly, and dry before reassembling. Don't soak the kief screen too long or you'll lose collected trichomes.
A 5-piece grinder has an extra storage chamber for ground flower, separate from the kief catcher. So you get: lid, grinding teeth, flower storage, kief screen, and kief catcher. A 4-piece skips the extra flower storage layer. If you grind more than you smoke at once, the extra chamber is useful.
Medium-fine consistency, good for most rolling papers and bowls. Not powdery like an electric grinder, but finer than hand-breaking. If you want ultra-fine for vaporizers, you'll need to grind upside-down for a few extra rotations before flipping it over to let material drop through.
Zinc grinders are common entry-level metal grinders and hold up fine with normal use. You shouldn't taste metal if you're just grinding flower — you're not heating the grinder itself. Over time, heavy use can wear down coating near threading, but it won't affect function. If you're concerned about material purity, anodized aluminum or stainless grinders are the next step up.
Depends on your flower's trichome density and how much you grind. Expect a visible layer after grinding a quarter ounce or so of decent flower. Dry, frosty bud drops more kief than fresh sticky stuff. If you're not seeing much after a few grinds, your flower might not be trichome-heavy, or the screen might be clogged with residue.
Some people toss their grinder in the freezer for 15-20 minutes, then tap or shake it to dislodge stuck trichomes. It works, but you'll also knock plant matter through the screen, so your kief won't be as pure. Up to you whether quantity or quality matters more.
Remove the kief catcher first, scoop out what you want to save, then brush or soak the screen separately. An old toothbrush works for scrubbing gunked-up screens. If the screen is really clogged, soak just that piece in isopropyl alcohol — but accept you'll lose any kief stuck in the mesh.
2 inches is a common pocket-size grinder. It's smaller than the 2.5-inch standard most people reach for, but bigger than 1.5-inch keychain grinders. Good for personal use or small group sessions. If you're grinding for multiple people regularly, a 2.5 or 3-inch grinder saves you from reloading as often.
