Nectar Collectors — Portable Dab Straws for Concentrates

Nectar collectors, also called dab straws or honey straws, are the fastest and most portable way to dab. Instead of loading concentrate into a banger on a rig, you heat the tip of the nectar collector and touch it directly to your wax or shatter. It is simple, efficient, and wastes almost nothing.

Glass vs. Silicone Nectar Collectors

Glass nectar collectors deliver the cleanest flavor because glass does not impart any taste. They are also easy to see through so you know when the tip is at the right temperature. The tradeoff is durability — glass can break if you drop it, so they are better for home use or careful travel.

Silicone nectar collectors are nearly indestructible. Most come with a quartz or titanium tip that screws into a silicone body. They handle being tossed in a bag, dropped on the ground, or taken on a hike without any worry. Flavor is slightly less pure than glass, but the convenience factor is hard to beat.

Tips and Temperature

Quartz tips give you the best flavor for low-temp dabs. Heat the quartz until it glows, let it cool for about 15 to 20 seconds, then touch it to your concentrate. Titanium tips heat faster and retain heat longer, which is convenient but can make it harder to dial in low temperatures. Either way, always use a torch — lighters do not get hot enough.

If you are new to concentrates and want the easiest entry point, a nectar collector is probably the best place to start. Less equipment, less learning curve, and you can always upgrade to a full dab rig later.
