An ash catcher sits between your bowl and your bong's downstem, adding an extra layer of filtration that catches ash and debris before they reach your main water chamber. Dry vs. Wet Ash Catchers

Dry ash catchers use a simple chamber without water to trap ash and larger particles. They add minimal drag and no extra weight, making them a good choice for people who want cleaner water without changing the pull of their bong. Wet ash catchers include their own small water chamber and sometimes a percolator, providing additional filtration and cooling on top of what your bong already does.

Joint Angle and Size

Getting the right joint angle is crucial. If your bong has a 90-degree downstem slot (pointing straight up), you need a 90-degree ash catcher. If the slot is angled at 45 degrees, you need a 45-degree ash catcher. Using the wrong angle will cause the ash catcher to sit crooked and potentially spill water or not seal properly. Also make sure the joint size and gender match your bong and bowl.
